The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005)

I sure can’t wait for this movie to come out. I am adding a trailer link and description of the The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe movie.

Chronicles of Narnia pic movie
Follows the exploits of the four Pevensie siblings–Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter–in World War II England who enter the world of Narnia through a magical wardrobe while playing a game of ‘hide and seek’ in the rural country home of an elderly professor. Once there, the children discover a charming, peaceful land inhabited by talking beasts, dwarfs, fauns, centaurs, and giants that has become a world cursed to eternal winter by the evil White Witch, Jadis. Under the guidance of a noble and mystical ruler, the lion Asian, the children fight to overcome the White Witch’s powerful hold over Narnia in a spectacular, climactic battle that will free Narnia from Jadis’ icy spell forever.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Johnny Depp DVD

This review comes a little late, but until now we had not watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. So that makes this the DVD review. I didn’t think I would like the movie. After watching it, I give it a pretty good rating. Johnny Depp made this movie funny, and gave a lot of laughs. This movie is a good one for the kids. Younger kids may leave the movie scared of squirrels after one scene where squirrels attack a bratty girl,

Harry Potter Goblet of Fire Movie Review

Goblet of Fire
That pesky scar. As 14-year-old wizard-in-training Harry Potter prepares for his fourth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, he is plagued by nightmares of the dark lord who killed his parents and left that nasty, increasingly painful lightning-bolt scar on his forehead. In those tormented dreams Harry sees the diminished Lord Voldemort plotting with his evil minions. Their goal: Restore Voldemort’s former power and finish off the boy wizard once and for all.

Jarhead review

Jarhead moview review
“Every war is different. Every war is the same.” So says the voiceover narration in the closing moments of Sam Mendes’ Jarhead. I might add: Every war movie is different. Every war movie is the same. This is Mendes’ Gulf War answer to Apocalypse Now – he announces as much by connecting the two in an early scene showing marines whipped into a frenzy while watching the helicopter attack sequence from Francis Ford Coppola’s 1979 film. Jarhead is about how the experience of being in the military fundamentally changes an individual. In this case, the focus isn’t about the madness of slaughter in the jungle, but the madness of inaction in the desert.

Rent movie review

Love. Friendship. Heartache. Loss. A close-knit circle of friends share all these during one year (beginning in 1989) living in New York’s East Village, a rundown neighborhood of squatters, homeless and bohemians who would rather suffer for their art than “sell out” and live a conventional, bourgeois life.

Roger, a struggling songwriter, mourns the loss of his girlfriend from AIDS; he too is HIV-positive. Mark, a filmmaker of sorts, is dumped by his girlfriend, Maureen, who takes up with a lesbian lover, Joanne. Mimi is an “exotic dancer” at a local nightspot—and an HIV-positive heroin addict. Tom is an out-of-work philosophy professor who hooks up with Angel, a drag queen. Both are HIV-positive.

And then there’s Benny. The former group friend is now their enemy because he’s working for a wealthy family of real estate developers—as bourgeois as you can get—and wants to tear down the building the friends live in rent-free.
