It is not uncommon for trends to develop in music over time. For Tooth & Nail Records, the most recent trend has been to re-release every album after only a few months on the market. With 
new songs, unreleased tracks and other bonus features, this might seem like a really good idea, but what it really does is leave listeners wondering whether to buy an album when it is released, or just wait until the re-release a few months later and get more for the same price. While record labels such as Tooth & Nail expect both copies to be purchased by everyone, this tends to be expensive, if not unnecessary, and so a choice must be made on whether to wait, or if the wait is even worth it.

As a result of the mass appeal for The Afters’ (INO/Simple/Columbia Records) hit song “Beautiful Love,” Nielson Soundscan has named the song as the top downloaded song on the inspirational chart for 2006. This song resounded with audiences as it also received RIAA Gold Certification for Digital Sales in 2006. On the heels of this news and following a successful tour with tobyMac’s Winter WonderSlam, which placed the band in front of more than 30,000 fans, The Afters prepare for their sophomore effort set to release in the fall of this year.
Once again working with award winning producers Brown Bannister and Dan Muckala, The Afters are excited about the outlook for the band in 2007.
“The songs are some of the best we’ve ever written. We’re working with great producers, and we have the support of a great label…what more could a band ask for,” shares lead vocalist Josh Havens. “We’re working hard on the new music and taking our time to get it perfect for our fans. After wrapping up a successful, acclaim-filled 2006, which featured the release of the much-heralded album Good Monsters, multi-Platinum selling, multi-GRAMMY Award winning band Jars of Clay prepares to launch an ambitious spring schedule of
shows throughout the United States and Canada, featuring special guests NEEDTOBREATHE and Burlap to Cashmere.
Reflecting on the band’s time on the road in the fall of ’06, Jars of Clay’s Dan Haseltine said, “It was great getting to play our new songs on the road, but I think my favorite part about touring is being able to reconnect with and make new fans.”
Few bands in America could challenge NEEDTOBREATHE’s sheer number of miles logged and shows played in 2006, with their own year-long club tour interlaced with shows opening for artists such as Train, Collective Soul, Cowboy Mouth and Edwin McCain.
