Here are some ways to make money on your blog:
1. Let Adsense or Yahoo Publisher Network (YPN) do the work for you. Place their ads on your sites. The more you blog, the more articles you write the more clocks you get. Easy, and the most common way. I can even refer you if you like. This of course makes some for CrimsonLight.com as well.
2. You can find your own advertisers. In fact you can goto BlogAds. BlogAds lets you join its database free and set your own ad prices. Companies (including media bigs such as Paramount Pictures, Random House and others) then search for suitable blogs and purchase ad space for a set period of time. In contrast to the way AdSense works, your earnings don’t depend on whether a reader clicks the ad. All you have to do is give 20 percent of your net revenue to BlogAds, and you keep the rest.
3. You can ask for donations or even charge to view your site. I don’t like this sites that ask for donations and you are not seeing as much of it anymore since it does not work very well. Some blog owners have made it, but most do not make money. You can charge to view your blog. This works for some, but if you pay attention to what is working on the net, it is giving info for free. Example … the Almighty Google. Information should be free. So don’t charge. If you choose this way, you may make it, but your crowd will be limited.
4. Go with companies such as Commission Junction and put banners on your site. You can also reach out and get companies to sponsor your site. We are seeing more and more of this once again. CrimsonLight Blogging Network has been contacted by companies and even individuals looking to do this. Our Credit Card and Home Loan site has been the focus of most of these offers recently. We have turned them down, but are beginning to see an advanatage to this.
5. You can also sell things on your site. Such as CafePress.com. This is an ok way to go, but in my eyes not the best. First the merchandise I have seen from CafePress is not the best quality, and I have not heard of many bloggers making a lot of cash from this type. It is always fun to see your blog in print on a t-shirt though!

We have been testing Adwords versus YPN (Yahoo Publisher Network) for a while now. We are seeing good payouts on YPN, and a little better click through rate on Google Adwords.

So in the race for blogs between Adsense and YPN, we feel it is a toss up, but for us YPN seems to be performing above our expectations.
Wan tto make money on your blog? Not sure what program to use? Adsense, Yahoo Publisher Network (YPN), or one of the others?
It depends on what type of blog. Adsense is contextual based like yahoo. Yahoo is growing quickly and the rates they are paying for most ads is better than Google Adsense. Yet Adsense has better targeting.
We use Adsense on this site and it is doing awesome! We use YPN, Yahoo Publisher Network on most of our other sites and the results are awesome. We are growing at great rates, and our income is multiplying quickly.
Take a look at the YPN ads on our Credit Card and Home Loan website. We also have them on our Cell phone review site.
They are doing really well.
So take into account what kind of site you have. Are contectual ads the way to go? If you are a site that talks about products Chitika might be an option. You can see that on the Cell phone site.
