Google Misses Estimates

Google today missed estimated on earnings by a long shot.

“We are scaling this business rapidly and we are investing for the long term,” said CEO Eric Schmidt on the call, saying there will be more focus on advertisers and more spending on search technology. “This remains a unique and historic opportunity.”

 The Story.

Technorati probems in the past with this Google Site

For the past 35 days or so Technorati would not accept the update from this site.  Even manually.  No matter what I did, Technorati would not agree that this site had been updated.

I emailed Technorati a few times, but received no reply.  Today I deleted this blog from Technorati, and put it back in again.  It seems to be working now.

Cross your fingers.

Google Advertising on Yahoo

Today on the Ron Artest Trade - CL Sports Blog Google was advertising via Yahoo Ads or as we call it YPN.  Pretty interesting thought.  Big brother Google, on Yahoo. hmm..

The ad was to submit your site to Google sitemaps, which we all know is very slow to update and has yet to accomplish much.  I do hope that google gets the sitemaps upto their full potential soon before I write them off for good.

Upgraded to Wordpress 2.0

I have upgraded this site and started a new site that is not totally live yet.  I will give you a sneek peak though:

http://calgarystampedeblog.com/index.php  It is going to be a great site dedicated to promoting the Calgary Stampede as well as helping people to find what they wan tin the city during the Stampede.  If you have not been to the Stampede, it is the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, and is located in Calgary Alberta.

3 Ways to Make Money on your Site

Here are 3 quick tips to make money on the web.

Making money on the web is not as hard as it seems. The reason most people fail is that their sites lack content and consistency.
1. Offer content - If you offer great content and with this content cater to your crowd you will generate the clicks needed to make money.

2. Consistency - You must be consistent in your postings. Web user hate going to sites that do not offer regular updates of information. You will notice on the CrimsonLight Blogging Network we update daily and normally many times a day. Some of our sites do not update daily due to the type of site, but sites that can update daily, you will notice frequent updates. This brings people back and generates followers of your site.

3. Clean sites - You must provide sites that are clean. What I mean by this is that you need a site that is to the point and no garbage in the design. Do not have tons of links to sites that have no point, only offer a site that is what people are looking for and no clutter. This goes back into the number 1 point above. Content is key, and your links and site are the content. So provide good content.

If you follow these 3 simple points you can develop a consistent base in which to generate money for your efforts. Pretty simple you say? Well how come most sites do not update even weekly? I get tired and will not return to sites that do not update. There is no reason. If I go to your site and the last post was 3 months ago, you will not see me again, and you will not see thousands of others either. Make your site look good as internet users will judge your site within a blink of an eye. So this is important. Do these 3 things and you can make it
