Google Buys Writely

Today we read on Jake’s Blog that:

So as many of you know that I use Gmail for most of my email. I have switched over almost all my accounts to my Gmail account. Also if you know me I have always kept the same email address and hate it when people switch. It is a pain with people switching email addresses all the time. So for me to switch to Gmail you know that is must be better.
How much better? Email is email right? Wrong. Gmail is better than any other email program that I have used. You should try gmail.

Also Gmail or Google has acquired Writely which is somewhat of a database system where you can save anything and everything online. It seems pretty awesome, I am signed up for thw waiting list to try it out. What is neat is t

Google Offering Email at yourdomain

Many months ago I got the idea that Gmail should offer their email @yourdomain.com  Much like everyone.net and other companies do, but use the awesome gmail service to do it.  I explained to them how this would give them more ad impressions and be a win win for everyone.

I went in to great detail on how other companies offer this and how it would help google and the webmasters that offer it. Google never took the time to email back.  OK, well maybe they hate the idea. (Read the article)

Google to Blend the Gmail and Chat

The new program, called Gmail Chat, will let Gmail users exchange text messages with others without having to log onto a separate chat program, making instant messaging simpler and more integrated with the e-mail program.

Google’s vice president for product management, Salar Kamangar, declined to say how many people used Gmail, saying only that there were millions. AOL’s instant messenger has 53 million users; MSN’s 27 million and Yahoo’s 22 million.

Mr. Kamangar said Gmail Chat would be available Tuesday to an unspecified number of Gmail users, and to all users of the system by the end of February.

Gmail Chat when it combines video will be a giant step forward.

Google Stock Target $600 per Share

Piper Jaffray research analyst Safa Rashtchy maintained an “outperform” rating on Google and raised his price target to $600 from $445, expecting the company to continue to gain market share, strengthen its brand and generate revenue with new initiatives in 2006.

“2006 should be another banner year for Google,” wrote the analyst. “It is singularly well positioned to benefit from the growth of online advertisement and search.”

Google is Piper Jaffray’s “Top Pick 2006″ in the large-cap category. Rashtchy expects the global search market to grow by 41% in 2006, with Google continuing to gain market share. The company gained an additional 5% market share in 2005 and strengthened its brand over the past year with the release of new and innovative products such as Google Maps and Gmail.
Rashtchy believes two of Google’s newer products in particular, Google Ad Network (Adsense) and Google Base, show significant promise to fuel Google’s string of earnings upside surprises into 2006 and beyond.

Google, mailing millions for millions. Who would have though 2 college kids, could be billionaires! Who thought free stuff could make this much!

Google Space Test Flies at Heathrow Airport

The pilot program is believed to be the first public test that will provide data on Google’s plans to establish public and free offerings of its products.

Travelers at London’s Heathrow Airport have been using a free pilot program called Google Space. Beginning last Thursday, travelers have been able to use ten laptops to try out six Google programs: Google Earth, Google Local, Google Toolbar, Froogle, Google Mobile, Google Mail, and Picasa.

Also available to the fliers, is general web surfing. This test for Google, may be a glimpse into the future.

Who’s Afraid of Google? Everyone.

It seems no one is safe: Google is doing Wi-Fi; Google is searching inside books; Google has a plan for ecommerce.

Of course, Google has always wanted to be more than a search engine. Even in the early days, its ultimate goal was extravagant: to organize the world’s information. High-minded as that sounds, Google’s ever-expanding agenda has put it on a collision course with nearly every company in the information technology industry: Amazon.com, Comcast, eBay, Yahoo!, even Microsoft. Gmail - Google’s Email

Google’s email service is called Gmail. Most of you have heard of it by now. I was slow to use it at first, but after deciding that I was going to switch over to Gmail, I have been pleased. (Read the article)
