Google Calendar API for Use on Your Website

Google opens up Calendar for developers 1 week after opening up Google Calendar to the public.

Google has made an API available for developers to build applications that use Calendar data or update the calendars themselves. Google’s Calendar service was released last week and quickly became an internet favorite. The new API allows developers to benefit from this popularity by building applications using that data.

Using Google’s Google data API (GData) feeds, applications can be created that insert new events, edit or delete existing events, and query for events that match particular criteria.

Google’s suggested ideas include creating a web front end for an in-house group calendar that uses Google Calendar as a back-end, or basing a public Google Calendar on data from an organisation’s internal resources, such as an event database. THis is what we asked for, the ability to use it on our website or church’s website.
