Google, Yahoo - Adsense, YPN and other info

YPN recently started their Quality-Based Pricing and there was a lot of complaining but no facts. now MoreMerchant.com has a review of Yahoo! Publisher Network’s Quality Based Pricing with some facts.

The results are in and I am very pleased with Yahoo’s Quality-Based Pricing. I am making almost 50% more than before Quality-Based Pricing took affect. So my sites must be high quality.

Professional Blogging - YPN and Yahoo Presents

Yahoo Publisher Network (YPN) which is a direct competitor to Google Adsense doesn’t seem to have sent Christmas presents to the majority of publishers. Google sent a digital picture frame and has sent presents for multiple years now.

YPN has had many complaints about their program. Not being international has hurt YPN over and over as well as being slow to roll out advancements. Others feel that the payout rate from YPN is much lower than Google Adsense. At first everyone was raving about the rates YPN was paying but that quickly subsided.

At BlogTopper we have stuck with YPN as we like their customer service and our pay rates have seemed reasonable. We would like YPN to advance quicker, and we do feel that improvements are on the horizon.

A handful of publishers that use them have been in contact with me about the lack of presents form YPN. All are in agreement that they would rather have higher rates, than a present from YPN, but neither seem to have happened.

YPN is having major issues serving ads and no information has been released to the public yet.
Blogtopper.com has emailed them and has yet to hear from Yahoo’s YPN about what the problem is and when it will be fixed.

This is costing many blog networks as well as other websites to lose many thousands of dollars.

Microsoft Corp. today is introducing an ad auctioning system caled adCenter that insiders say will be “the next big revenue engine for the company.” Microsoft hopes to use adCenter to grab a bigger share of the booming market for ads linked to specific words used in online searches. But the competition will be tough. Yahoo! next month plans to unveil long-awaited improvements to its system — which Microsoft used while building adCenter. Google Adwords is constantly tweaking its approach to the strategy, which fueled its runaway growth.

Many people were surprised when Yahoo! launched a new travel website, considering the company already has a website called Yahoo! Travel; however, the new Yahoo! FareChase site is a travel search engine and offers much more and does it in a way that saves the user time. Customers can search for the pricing of flights and hotels across multiple travel sites. The search results include some of the airlines’ own websites, which tend to offer some of the cheapest fares.

The Yahoo! FareChase service will also be integrated with Yahoo! Search, so visitors can begin searching for flights and hotels directly from Yahoo! Search. Aspects of the FareChase service will also be integrated into Yahoo! Maps and the Yahoo! Trip Planner. The service will also offer information regarding travel experiences.

So far Yahoo! Farechase works well, and is something I will use.

YPN today is improving the ad relevancy. This will mean better targetting of the ads to the sites that use YPN! as their ad company.
This will be great for all of the bloggers that use Yahoo Punlisher NEtwork because better ad relevancy means more clicks which means more money.
YPN will experiece some outage times for their site but this will not affect the serving of ads.
Just some minor growing pains as YPN strives to get better and match if not better the competition.
