Just got back from the world premiere of Final Destination 3 at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood and I must say that this film was surprisingly good. Definitely one of the gorier films that I have seen in quite some time, but very well put together and quite suspenseful. In fact, about half way through the film (during one particularly gory scene) about five audience members had to excuse themselves from the theatre. I have not seen either of the first two movies but was still able to enjoy this film so I’m sure I missed out on soem references that would have likely enhanced the experience. Still, I was quite pleased (especially because I expected the movie to be stupid) that Final Destination 3 was enjoyable for those who were not familiar with the original story. I also had the opportunity to speak with director James Wong to congratulate him a job well-done. He seems like a very nice guy.

I just got back from the sneak preview screening. I went into the movie not expecting much of a sequel. For some reason the trailer made it seem to be kinda cheesy. However, i could not have been more wrong. As soon as the roller coaster crash occurs its intense all the way to the end. It just seemed like the deaths kept coming and coming non stop. The deaths i thought were very creative and many came to be a surprise. The ending i thought was great and surprising. The acting in the movie i thought was better then in any of the other films. The only complaint i had was that it was only 90 minutes long. Anyone that is even considering seeing this go see it as soon as you can. You will not be disappointed.

I am a huge fan of this genre of film, especially films along the lines of Scream and Final Destination 1 & 2, they are very tongue in cheek and are able to not take themselves seriously whilst still providing a good scream every now and then, Final Destination 3 however really didn’t follow in suit.

I am really confused as to why this film was so bad, it was written by the same people who wrote FD1 and FD2 yet it seemed like I was watching a bad TV movie spin off, not a big budget Hollywood film.

The acting was really so bad, none of the actors could act, and they didn’t seem to care that they were giving nothing. As with FD1 & FD2, I wanted the characters to do well, I wanted them to succeed and solve the “death mystery” - these guys, well, I just wanted to see how quickly and cleverly they would croak!

The story was also really poor, I knew things were bad when the “big scare” which is right at the start of the film, was really badly put together, it first off all was not in the slightest bit scary, and looked terrible, the special effects budget must have been cut short, because I couldn’t actually SEE what was happening, and the CGI was very badly done and in all the wrong places.

The reason why I loved the first two movies in this series were the deaths, they were smart, scary and made you, the viewer, a little bit more wary of normal items like garbage disposal or elevators. The deaths in this movie were not good, the creators must have spent very little time thinking up creative stuff, because all of the deaths were obvious a mile off, so you were just waiting for them to happen - which is a shame as the first two movies really made you jump with the sudden deaths…I wanted a lot more from this movie, and it just didn’t give anything. The only thing to be positive about this pivotal point of the film is that the deaths were quick and consistent, they kept on churning them out, but for me, only one actually made me a little freaked out…DIY store anyone?

I wont spoil anything, but I will say one thing, after watching Final Destination 3, my “fears” are all the same, I’m not scared of anything “normal” like I was after watching the first two movies.

It wasn’t scary, it wasn’t clever, it wasn’t even imaginative, it was just bad, I will admit that it was a “good-bad”, but when you follow a movie like Final Destination 2, it needs to be bigger and better, and to outshine the one before it, well Final Destination 3 quite simply did not do that. It’s worth a look when it comes out on DVD, or wait until its shown on TV or something, but I rushed out to see this movie and quite honestly, I couldn’t have been more let down

3 stars because its a good concept for a movie, but it really didn’t achieve everything I thought it would…
