CHRISTIAN ROCKER HAS HEART AND MUSIC INVESTED IN NEW FILM
(Nashville) — December 9, 2005 — With The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, & The Wardrobe,’ opening in theaters across the nation tomorrow, Christian rock singer REBECCA ST. JAMES last night hosted a major Narnia radio special from the sight of a “sneak preview” of the film for the Nashville music industry.
St. James has music invested in the film’s success. Her song “Lion” is a centerpiece of the music inspired by the Chronicles Of Narnia. The CD containing her song also features artists who, like St. James, represent the biggest names in today’s contemporary Christian music –artists such as Steven Curtis Chapman, Jars Of Clay, Jeremy Camp, Delirious, and TobyMac, among others. The CD has been released by music giant, EMI.
Following her first full viewing of the much anticipated film, the Australian born singer urges major support of the film she feels has “the power of The Passion.” She noted: “Like The Passion, this movie found me thanking Jesus Christ for what He has done in my life.” She added: “The cinematography is stunning, the acting is brilliant and the scenes of redemption and forgiveness are very powerful. It’s a movie with a message for all ages–and one with values that children can benefit tremendously from. I very much want to encourage people to get out in great numbers this opening weekend to cast their dollars in support of this type of Hollywood production.”
A lifelong devotee to the writings of C.S. Lewis, in the pre-promotion surrounding the movie St. James got to meet with Douglas Gresham, stepson of the famous writer, and himself a major force behind bringing the enchanting land of Narnia to the movie screen in creative alliance with Walt Disney Productions and Walden Media. She termed meeting him, “a wonderful honor.”
Her own song “Lion,” based on the lead character of the film, Aslan, has been getting a strong reaction at her concerts. “I have sensed a lot of excitment about the film at the concerts where I sing the song live as clips from the film are flashed on the video screens. I’ve been greatly anticipating seeing the whole Narnia film –and it surpassed even the high expectations I had for it,” noted St. James.
