SUPERCHICK CALLS YOUTH TO SPRING “GENERATION RISING TOURâ€
Bill Features Today’s Hottest Rising Artists
Revolutionary pop-rock group Superchick challenges youth to stand up and be counted on its spring “Generation Rising Tour,†featuring emerging stars Krystal Meyers, Nevertheless, DecembeRadio, and Group One Crew.
Opening late April in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., the 25-city tour takes its inspiration from I Timothy 4:12 which says, “Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.†Superchick, joined by those new artists who will be at the forefront of this generation’s music scene, hopes to encourage its young attendees to join together and make a difference.
“This tour is going to be the biggest and most high-energy event in Superchick history,†comments Matt Dally, Superchick’s bassist. “It is definitely a life-changing tour for us, and we hope it will have the same impact on all those we encounter along the way.â€
Chicago-based Superchick comprises sisters Tricia Brock (vocals) and Melissa Brock (vocals, guitar), Matt Dally (bass, vocals), Dave Ghazarian (lead guitar, vocals), Brandon Estelle (drums, vocals), and Max Hsu (keyboards/DJ). With five projects to date, Superchick has sold upwards of 450,000 albums. From the declaration of “One Girl Revolution†in 2001’s “Legally Blonde,†to “Anthem†roaring through MTV’s “Real World/Road Rules Challenge: The Gauntlet 2†and “It’s On†powering NBC’s promotional spots for the 2006 Winter Olympics, music from Superchick has been heard in more than 60 different films and television shows. Among those are “The Practice,†“Alias,†“Felicity,†“Joan of Arcadia,†“Legally Blonde 2,†“Ice Princess,†“Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen,†and “Zoom.†Currently, Superchick’s music is included in the movie trailer for upcoming film “Nancy Drew†and on MTV’s “The Hills.†The supergroup’s kinetic youth quake energy has also been picked up by the gaming community and is prominently featured on Electronic Arts’ video game “NFL Street 3.†With literally hundreds of live performances on the group’s resume, Superchick has developed a well-deserved reputation as an incandescent and charismatic pop/rock phenomenon. Most recently the band released Beauty From Pain 1.1, a revamped version of its 2005 project, featuring hit radio single “Stand In The Rain.†A new studio album is currently in the works. Since the release of Krystal Meyers’ self-titled debut on Essential Records (2005), the eighteen year-old has garnered three Dove Award nominations, two at the 37th Annual GMA Dove Awards (New Artist of the Year and Special Event Album), and for the 38th Annual, Krystal has received a nomination for Female Vocalist of the Year. Meyers also landed the No. 1 spot on general market radio in Japan, (“Anticonformityâ€) knocking the Red Hot Chili Peppers from the top position, had six Top 10 radio singles in the U.S. (“The Way To Begin,†“My Savior,†“Anticonformity,†“Fire,†“Collide,†“The Beauty of Graceâ€), and performed before more than 400,000 people. Dying For A Heart, the second record from Meyers, landed in stores September 2006. For additional information on Krystal Meyers, visit www.krystalmeyers.com.
It is determination that gives NEVERTHELESS an asterisk amidst their contemporaries in indie pop/rock. At first listen they would fit nicely in the vein of such bands as Jimmy Eat World and Cartel, except for one difference: Their songs deal in as much substance as they do in relationship experience. On Live Like We’re Alive (Flicker Records 2006), the band delivers diversity in emotion as well as depth in empathy. At the heart of the album is an energy created by a dynamic between high and low, verse and chorus. Pearson’s voice soothes as soft moments give way to explosive guitars and driving beats. Since debut, this band has received acclaim from Blogcritcs.org, PunkPressOnline.com, HM Magazine, Billboard, DecoyMusic.com and PunkUnited.com. NEVERTHELESS is Josh Pearson – lead vocal, guitar, AJ Cheek – lead guitar, bgv, Brad Jones – guitar, bgv, Adam Wann – bass, Adam Rowe – drums. The band has been together for four years and call Chattanooga, Tennessee home.
Virginia-based DecembeRadio (Josh Reedy, Brian Bunn, Eric Miker and Boone Daughdrill) have been touring independently since 1998. Recently signed to Slanted Records, they have gained the support of both fans and industry representatives alike with their combination of classic rock and commitment to ministry. Named one of Billboard’s Faces to Watch as well as Rock Summit’s Breakout Band of the Year in 2006, they have certainly been exceeding everyone’s expectations. They performed the National Anthem and a pre-race set at NASCAR’s Bass Pro Shops 500 in Atlanta, and received a standing ovation when they opened for Kid Rock late last year. Their hit single “Drifter†climbed to #3 during its 15-week stay in the top 10, and their current single “Dangerous†is climbing both the CRW and R&R charts. This landmark year culminated in a Grammy nomination for their debut, self-titled project. DecembeRadio is now in the studio working on their second album, scheduled to release fall 2007. The GRAMMY®-nominated band is currently nominated for four Gospel Music Association (GMA) Dove awards for Song of the Year with their current radio smash “Drifter,†New Artist of the Year, Rock Album of the Year and also for Rock Recorded Song of the Year (“Dangerousâ€). DecembeRadio was recently selected as one of the Best Bands of the Year and Best New Artists of the Year by the staff of ChristianityToday.com, who assured readers they could “expect some lean, mean guitar riffs and a bona fide rock show from [DecembeRadio].â€
Already being heralded as the breakout group of 2007, Group 1 Crew is set to release their self-titled debut CD on February 20, 2007 and their second single “Love Is A Beautiful Thing†is climbing up the radio charts with a New & Active nod from Radio & Records. All three members of Group 1 Crew; Manwell, Blanca, and Pablo, hail from Orlando, FL and formed their band from a bible study group that Manwell had started. The band teamed together for one unified purpose, the desire to shine the love of Christ through the power of song, and they wanted the group’s name to carry that singular message. Group 1 Crew’s unique sound of hybrid hip-hop, rock, funk, and soul is already connecting with audiences, as their recent Freedom Experience Tour with Brock Gill had over 2300 people being saved. And the new CD is receiving critical acclaim that includes, an April cover story in Brio & Beyond, artist spotlight this summer in Relevant Magazine, review & features in CCM Magazine, March 10 feature on CBN.com, and the band will make their Christian television debut on Harvest House, Wednesday, February 21st.
